Heat networks which were first to notify the OPSS (formally the NMRO) back in 2015 and 2016 are now due to renotify. Under the Heat Network Regulations (2014), all heat suppliers have a duty to notify the OPSS of all operational heat networks. Each notification has a shelf life of four years, with notification templates seeking information relating to billing, the number of customers, and the network installation.
Although the re notification process is expected to run as per the initial notifications, it is worth being aware of the ongoing consultation process which is currently open on the Heat Network Regulations. A few updates are proposed, and as a minimum, tighter enforcement and administration of the current reach of regulations is anticipated.
