Circular Economy Statements

A circular economy is one in which we keep resources in use for as long as possible, extract the maximum value from them whilst in use, then recover and regenerate products and materials at the end of each service life.

Recent GLA guidance has been released which requires all referable developments to submit a Circular Economy Statement with their planning application. Over time it will require developers and design teams to fundamentally change the way they design buildings, encouraging innovative and long term thinking about the buildings they are designing. Through these circular principles, developments are going to see a wide range of benefits including greater energy efficiency, less waste, reduced build costs and better innovation.
