During 2024 we have worked on a wide range of Building Safety Regulator (BSR) referrable projects and welcome the clarity of roles and responsibilities that is required to navigate the Gateway process successfully and produce robust designs for high quality buildings.
With decades of experience working on highly complex building projects that would have been classified as ‘Higher Risk Buildings’ under the Building Safety Act, we already understand the unique challenges that navigating Building Regulations requirements on these projects can pose. In the last 12 months however, we have seen a broader understanding of the need for absolute clarity on competence, roles and responsibilities of those working on these projects across the industry.
New ways of working associated with this process, including the need to bring procurement decisions and specialist subcontractor design packages forward in the programme, have emerged during the year and present challenges to project teams dealing with this process for the first time. However, the elimination of ambiguity and proactive tackling of risks is how we like to work on all projects and will lead to better outcomes overall.
