Shruti Jayaraman,
Graduate
BArch (First Class with Exemplary), MSc
Shruti joined Hodkinson Consultancy in September 2024 as a Graduate Consultant with a Bachelor of Architecture degree while completing a master’s in Environmental Design and Engineering from the Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources, University College London.
The multidisciplinary education has equipped her with specialized knowledge of the building envelope, construction methodologies, energy and carbon contexts, efficient building service systems, and energy optimization techniques allowing her to approach challenges holistically.
In her master’s dissertation, she used a data-driven approach to analyse metered operational energy use of higher educational institutions in England and Wales to assess their current energy use intensity and evaluate the robustness of existing UK energy benchmarks, like the CIBSE TM46 and the CIBSE dynamic energy benchmarking tool. Owing to the diverse range of facilities and transitory population of university-occupied buildings, the impact of occupancy pattern, research intensity, environmental strategy, and ASHRAE climate classification on energy use intensity was examined using inferential statistical techniques for different activity types. This comprehensive analysis allowed her to identify key drivers of energy consumption, honing her ability to assess energy use and recommend effective energy efficiency strategies for multi-functional environments.
Currently, Shruti conducts SAP calculations across all project stages from initial design considerations to final as-build certifications to ensure residential buildings in the UK meet Part L compliance and achieve optimal energy performance.
Shruti is a graduate member of CIBSE and aspires to achieve Chartered Engineer status.
