Berkeley Homes Capital’s Lombard Square development has been granted planning consent. Providing 328 residential units and residential facilities. The approval allows the next phase of urban regeneration of a former brownfield site in the Royal Borough of Greenwich.
We have provided a range of services to support the planning application, each with its own challenges which were successfully addressed:
- Energy Strategy: The development has achieved a reduction in emissions of over 66% over the Part L 2021 Baseline, surpassing the GLA benchmark for CO2 emissions reductions. This is delivered via an efficient building envelope, optimised communal heating systems and PV panels.
- Overheating strategy: the design addresses Part O and mitigates overheating despite a complex acoustic environment.
- Circular Economy: Berkeley Homes Capital’s commitment to adopting a design approach that focuses on material resource efficiency by considering building in layers, designing out waste, designing for longevity & disassembly & maximising reuse & recycling..
- Whole Life Cycle Carbon Assessment: Has achieved a total whole life cycle carbon emissions figure of 755 kg CO2e/m, which is 445 kg CO2e/m² lower than the GLA benchmark. This is largely due to focusing on a design that minimises material use
