We were appointed as BREEAM and Carbon consultants by Wates Construction London Residential for the commercial development at Abbey Road in the London Borough of Camden, which has now been successfully completed.
Wates are committed to the Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) and have joined the ‘Race to Zero’ campaign, which aims to halve Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions by 2030 against a 2019 baseline. To support Wates with this we reported on both operational and embodied carbon via a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) on a quarterly basis to allow for reporting at group level. Through this process we provided bespoke recommendations to further reduce both embodied and operational carbon.
We also supported Wates in devising the sustainability strategy for the Community Centre and Health Centre in Phase 2 of the Abbey Road regeneration scheme. Working closely with the team to provide an integrated sustainability strategy (including BREEAM Excellent) in a cost-effective manner.
The buildings create a healthy and environment with strong connections to the newly improved landscape whilst the need for future adaptation due to climate change and changing weather patterns were considered in a bespoke Adaptation to Climate Change study.
