Pre-redevelopment, and pre-demolition, reports help to reduce the environmental impact of material use in construction. They can be undertaken at all RIBA stages but will typically take place prior to where demolition activities are proposed. Our consultants will provide you with a thorough and objective report that maximises resource efficiency by weighing the impact of:

  • Retaining existing structures;
  • Retrofitting or refurbishing existing buildings;
  • Reusing materials; and
  • Recycling materials.

The GLA require Circular Economy Assessments to include a pre-redevelopment and/or pre-demolition report. We deliver these reports by evaluating the existing materials on the site.

The advice we provide is practical and designed to ensure a sustainable, responsible and cost effective approach to construction projects. We provide recommendations for materials to be salvaged in line with the Waste Hierarchy, including listing suitable brokers for unavoidable waste streams.

Examples of our assistance have included, reclaiming bricks for use in landscaping helping to place make, retaining steel structures to reduce embodied carbon, and recycling timber hardwood floors to woodchip to aid in reducing environmental impact.
